Program Infomation
Guizhou is a mountainous province. The province is more than 1,000 meters above sea level. Liupanshui is located in the west of Guizhou province in China. The average sea level in Liupanshui is 1,800 meters. Because of its high altitude and relatively low latitude, the weather in Liupanshui is very cool in summer, the average temperature in summer is 19.7℃, so Liupanshui is known as “The Cool City” in China. It’s an ideal summer resort.
Apart from the Han people, there are many other minority groups including Miao, Buyi, Yi, Hui, etc. living in Liupanshui. Guizhou has the country’s third biggest population of minority groups.
Liupanshui Normal University is located in the Liupanshui city, three kilometers from the city centre. Buses regularly depart the city centre for the college and it takes 10 minutes tothe city centre by bus.
General Chinese Course

Introduces students to Chinese culture, Chinese minorities culture and provides opportunities to practice conversation skills in the class and the campus, help students communicate with people across China.

Develops abilities in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Length of Study

Periods of study range from as short as 4 to 10 weeks, to as long as one or two years. The academic year is made up two semesters. The spring semester begins on March 1 and ends on July 10, and the autumn semester begins on September 1 and ends on January 10 the following year.

The four-week Summer School generally is held during summer vacation.

For organized groups, flexible time arrangements may be made through negotiation. Short-term study program begins at any time during the academic year.
Activities

Class activities are varied and designed to meet the practical needs of students.

The Chinese corner, which is a free weekly conversation activity, is arranged where Chinese students from various schools share cultures experiences with the international students.

Social activities, which are provided free of charge, are generally conducted once a month. These include sightseeing in Guizhou Province, touring local schools and minority groups’ villages.
